The Knights of Columbus held a Beach/Luau Themed Adult Dance to raise money for the LTBK Playground Fund. A great time was had by all and over $600.00 was raised for the playground. Thanks to everyone who attended the event and of course the organizers!

Another successful fund-raiser. Thank you to Terri-Lynn Davis and Marjorie Penney for organizing a great day. The bottle blitz raised over $1500.00. The support from the community was amazing. Our playground/park is becoming a reality!!

A Huge Thank-You

The playground committee extends a big thank you to Bishop's Falls and surrounding areas for their support with the LTBK Telethon. The total raised during the telethon was $71,000.00.
Thanks to Rogers Cable and Roger Robinson and his crew for all their hard work in making our telethon a success.

Walk-A-Thon

Fabulous Job children!!!!
The children have raised over $8000.00 in a LTBK Walk-a-Thon held on the evening of July 10. The children started the walk at Helen Tulk Elementary and ended at the Knights of Columbus, where they were served with hotdogs and drinks!
Congratulations to Janessa Drover who raised about the most funds for the Walk-aThon. She won a new bike! Very successful fund-raiser and fun had by all!!!!

Bishop’s Falls Wins National Award

For years now, the children of Bishop’s Falls have dreamed of a community playground facility filled with fun where there is something for the whole family! WOW! Now the time has come where we can do something to improve the situation and we need YOUR help to make it happen!

Recently, through the support of our playground committee, we learned that Bishop’s Falls was the recipient a prestigious National Award through the LET THEM BE KIDS foundation! This grant will help enable us to purchase and install playground equipment, a volleyball court, exercise equipment, a walking track and much more as we endeavor to develop a community park in the west end. We will also make improvements to the Helen Tulk Elementary School playground and ensure it meets safety standards. In achieving this ambitious project we feel it will strengthening the community as a whole. Every dollar raised by our community will be matched dollar for dollar by the LET THEM BE KIDS foundation meaning every $1 you donate automatically turns into $2 - what an impact! This award also provides a tremendous opportunity for the town of Bishop’s Falls by helping our children learn a lesson far greater than just getting a new playground. By strengthening and defining our sense of community, we will motivate and inspire children and citizens alike to help others for the good of giving and not because they will get something in return. In addition, our playground will be dedicated to honor soldiers from Bishop’s Falls who served our great nation and helped support the freedoms of others.

This is something YOU won`t want to miss being a part of! On July 31^st, 2010, community members, students, parents, teachers & parishioners will all join together as a team to build a new community park and upgrade Helen Tulk Elementary playground all in ONE DAY!

We need ALL residence to join and support us in this exciting venture. We would like to THANK YOU by offering your organization or company the following incentives:

Level 1: Major corporate donations $5,000 and over

-A plaque placed at the location of a major piece of equipment plus recognition as listed for level 2 below.

-If the donation is $15,000 this will be doubled and will provide a full complete play structure with slides, etc.

Knights of Columbus Walk-a-Thon

The Knights of Columbus in Bishop's Falls is sponsoring a Walk-a-Thon. The monies raised will go towards the Bishop's Falls Community Park and school playground project. The event will take place on Thursday, June 10 at 6pm. We will walk from Helen Tulk School to the Knights of Columbus, where refreshments will be served. There will be a prize for the highest fundraiser! Everyone is encouraged to come out and support your community :)

The kids were very excited to be involved in the actual choosing of the new playground equipment. The sense of ownership that this event created in the children was invaluable. Many of the kids can't wait to see the new playgrounds (the adults are very anxious too :)

I was informed that last night at their meeting, the Bishop's Falls Lions club discussed how they could contribute to the playgrounds in the community. It was decided that they would pledge to raise

We are pleased to announce that the town of Bishop's Falls has been selected for a national Let Them Be Kids award. This award will give us a 50/50 match of every fundraising dollar we raise towards the purchase of new playground equipment for two playgrounds in our community!! Stay tuned for more details!
